Welcome to the Jackie Serviss Show! This podcast has been on my heart for a long time, and I am so glad you are here. For those of you who don’t know me, I am Jackie Serviss- corporate veteran turned entrepreneur and people strategist. On this podcast we are going to talk about all things business, hiring, entrepreneurship, mom life, mindset work and spirituality.
In this episode, I share my journey, starting with growing up in Waterloo, Ontario and my competitive swimming career. Looking back, I can see a lot of correlation between athletics and business. Post- university, I landed a job at PepsiCo., and in my years working in corporate HR, I found myself always pushing for “what’s next”- the title, the salary, the lifestyle. All of this came to a screeching halt in 2012 when I walked into a doctors office and was diagnosed with a brain tumor. This news shifted who I was as a human and made me reevaluate all of the things I thought I had wanted and had been working towards. Today, I look back at this time and realize this is what created space for a new version of myself to be born.
Through my diagnosis, I discovered new tools that became pillars to unlocking the next version of myself. I continued on my path in corporate America, but as I continued to achieve goals- I felt empty. This led me to finally leave corporate America to start on a new path as an entrepreneur. Although building my own business felt overwhelming at times, the big shift of learning to trust myself led me to lean in which ultimately led me to where I am today.
