Turn Your Passion Into A Business

Everyone has a passion they'd like to turn into something more. Whether it's painting, cooking, writing, or coaching — if you have the drive and ambition to do something bigger with your passion, entrepreneurship can be the key. But how do you get started?

Inner Child Healing Coach and successful business owner, Kathryn Ducey, has some great advice for aspiring entrepreneurs who want to take their passion to the next level. She believes that passion is one of the most important elements for success. From her experience founding her own business and online courses, she has several tips for turning your passion into something more than a hobby.

When you think about the people you know who are great at what they do. More than likely, a passion for their work underpins their performance. Kathryn’s story is no different. While working through childhood trauma in her 30s, Kathryn’s passion for childhood healing was revealed. While navigating the ups and downs of her own therapy journey, Kathryn got the urge to use her newfound knowledge to start a business helping others.

Here are Kathryn’s tips to turn your passion into a sustainable and scalable business.

  • Define your passion

Your passion can be the starting point of your entrepreneurship adventure, but you must define your passion before getting started. By this, Kathryn means you must define exactly what your passion can allow you to do for others. Figure out what you’re going to offer, who you’re going to offer it to, and how you’re going to offer your services.

Once you’re clear on all of that, you can determine whether there’s a need in the market for your offerings. Look for the holes or things that could be done better within the industry your business would be a part of. From there, think about how you can create something sustainable.

Conducting thorough marketing research during this stage is crucial. Finding the answers to questions such as: Do similar businesses already exist? What are those businesses offering? Will my business offer something different and unique? What are the other businesses’ demographics? Would our businesses have the same target audience?

You must know your industry inside and out, as well as how to operate within it.

  •  Do you have the skills to do it alone? Or will you need professional help?

Successful entrepreneurs know when they need an expert’s help. Outsourcing some of your work can save you months and years of trial and error. For example, hiring a web developer to create your website or hiring a brand agency so your brand stands out. Investing in expert help from the beginning will go a long way and save you a lot of time and energy.

  • Are you ready to treat your passion as a business?

As an entrepreneur, you will be the one responsible for growing your passion into a business as well as managing all the aspects that come with it. You'll need to commit to long hours and hard work but it can be worth it in the end - when you're able to make money from something you are passionate about!

There is no single formula for succeeding in business, so don't worry if mistakes happen along the way. Consistency and passion will get you far, so take every chance to learn from those experiences and keep going. Being an entrepreneur takes guts, determination, and a bit of luck – but if you have these qualities then you can make it happen!

At first, it might seem like a daunting task, but don’t let that stop you. Remember your why in those trying times.

  •  Start today!

If you are an aspiring entrepreneur, Start Today! Don't wait until tomorrow, next week, or even next year - launch now and start your journey. Trust me, I speak from experience when I say it's the best way to go. If you spend months trying to figure out what to do online, you'll have wasted valuable time that could have been used to learn all about entrepreneurship.

Start today by creating a website/blog/Facebook group around something that really excites and motivates you - your passion! Connect with people who share similar interests as you and engage in their work by commenting on their blog posts, on their pages, or in any groups they may be part of. Remember: don't see them as competition

  • Plan

To achieve success in business, passion, and dedication is a must. But passion alone does not guarantee success; it requires you to be organized and have a plan of action for every day of the week.

Organizing your schedule into daily tasks helps you set realistic goals that are achievable with your limited resources. You will know what needs to be done each day and what can wait until tomorrow. Additionally, by planning and setting clear expectations for yourself, it will be easier to measure progress over time.

You should also consider breaking down weekly objectives into smaller daily tasks so they become more manageable. This way, instead of feeling overwhelmed by the bigger goal, you can focus on smaller actions that will bring you closer to achieving it.

  •  Become THE expert within your community

Are you looking to become the go-to expert in your field? Do you have passion and enthusiasm for what you do? Are you an entrepreneur looking to further grow your business? If so, then becoming the go-to expert in your industry is a great way to reach success.

It’s all about creating content for different levels within your expertise (beginner, intermediate, advanced). Share stories or interviews with other experts in the industry. You can also create Q&A sessions on social media accounts or start by sharing a FAQ series. Sharing your journey of how you got started and where you are now is also a great way to connect with people and inspire them. Last but not least, help others on social.

Kathryn’s social presence is incredible and she has a loyal client base because of it. Visit her Instagram profile to get an idea of what she means by leveraging social media as an expert in your field!

  •  Work on your personal brand every day

Your story and background are just as important as passion when it comes to attracting the right clients. What sets you apart from others in your field? There's no one else like you! Use this uniqueness to show potential customers why they should choose you over someone else. Show them the value of working with you by sharing something about your experience or journey that resonates with them.

So don't be afraid to let your personality show!

  •  Test and adjust

As business entrepreneurs, it's essential to test and adjust your business strategies. You'll need to regularly assess your website, services, and business model to make sure you're optimizing your business for success. It may be tempting to wait until everything is perfect before launching or sharing with the world; however, this can prevent you from making progress.

It's important to remember that perfection doesn't happen overnight — sometimes jumping in and getting started is the best way forward. Don't let the fear of not having a perfect product keep you from putting out something great!

  • Celebrate every success

No matter how big or small, celebrating successes is an important part of being an entrepreneur. Make sure to take a step back and acknowledge when you’ve achieved something or made progress in some way. Celebrating your successes will help reinvigorate and inspire you to keep going on the business journey — no matter what challenges you encounter!

Kathryn is a business leader who has taken her passion and personal experiences to create a business that heals others by following the above advice. Kathryn's story of empowerment is proof that nothing is impossible if you put your heart and soul into it. She serves as an example for others looking to turn their passions into a business.
